Soon after emigrating to Madinah and making sure that the pillars of the new Islamic State were well established on strong bases of administrative, political and ideological unity, the Prophet (ﷺ) commenced to establish regular and clearly-defined relations with non-Muslims. All these were to commandments of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى).

All of these efforts were exerted solely to build the State with a solid foundation and can defend itself. Additionally, the efforts were undertaken to do the dawah of Islam and take it to the Arabian Peninsula.

Geographically, the closest people to Madinah were the Jews. They harbored evil intentions, and nursing bitter grudge but they showed neither the least resistance nor the slightest animosity. The Prophet ratified a treaty with them with clauses that provided full freedom in faith and wealth.

The speaker details the most important provisions of the treaty and connects it to the fact that Madinah was a State and the Prophet Muhammad (Saw) was ruling over the people as a messenger implementing the commandments of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى).

Finally, the speaker contrasts Islam’s System of Ruling with that of systems today to help us understand the superiority of the Islam to any other system.
