On the 29th night of Taraweeh Reflections, the Sheik talks about the relevance of the first nine(9) verses of Surah At-Takwir in today’s world where we constantly hear that Islam being the source of oppressing of women. He emphasizes that in the Surah, Allah(swt) clearly has raised the the level of women, especially during a time when Mecca was being very tough on the Prophet Muhammad(Saw).
The speaker highlights that Islam provides due rights to women, and raises their status in society, and calls for justice to be defined by the creator of the heavens and the earth. The verses clearly emphasize that women and men should both follow the laws defined by Allah(swt), in order to truly provide justice to both men and women. The speaker touches on current issues such as abortion and sexual harassment faced by women in various countries, and suggests that only the commands of Allah(swt) can bring true justice to all humans, regardless of gender or religion.
