How have we come to a time where injustice is normalized, oppression is excused, and truth is silenced?

This sharp contrast has shaken us again this week when a Palestinian activist, Mahmoud Khalil, is detained without charge, torn from his family, his rights stripped away for speaking out against oppression. On the other, criminals convicted of drug offenses are freed without question, because their release was requested by the powerful. 

A system. A world built on hypocrisy, where power dictates justice, and oppression is rewarded.

And where do we, as Muslims, stand? Are we among those who watch in silence, or are we fulfilling our divine duty to uphold justice?
